SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE INVESTING October 2002 Socially responsible investing is the practice of selecting securities with social objectives in mind in addition to more customary investment criteria. Such non-investment criteria may include a diverse and sometimes conflicting range of social, religious, and political objectives. SIG does not impose such objectives or constraints on investment decisions, but will attempt to accommodate reasonable client-directed investment restrictions. However, SIG notes that social restrictions may impair the portfolio’s ability to deliver maximum risk-adjusted returns. |
