The Prospects for Commodities March 2009 Commodity prices, as measured by the Goldman Sachs Commodity Index (GSCI), have fallen 65% from the dizzying heights they reached in mid-2008, when fear of a commodity super-cycle driven by the industrialization of China and India was at its frenzied peak. Meanwhile, quantitative easing by the Federal Reserve has caused many investors to refocus on the prospect of inflation.
