Venture capital investing - an update

It is hard to believe that it has been only five years since the Internet bubble burst in March 2000. With the benefit of hindsight, it seems implausible that investors could be willing to support the absurd multi-billion dollar valuations of such Internet darlings as E-Toys and Pets.com. In the years since, as those companies (and many more) have become mere footnotes in the annals of speculative manias, the venture capital industry, which incited investors to join the tomfoolery, has struggled to regain its footing and respectability. Surprisingly, it has largely succeeded.
